eMusic Downloads

eMusic has special introductory deals where they lure you in by offering a month's worth of free downloads. It's a commercial service, not a filesharing system. You buy legitimate files that are licensed for download. I'm a big fan of downloading. It's not the highest quality sound, but then neither is CD. A 256 bit sample (mp3) is a pretty good substitute if you can't listen to the analog version (live). eMusic offers an interesting selection of music at a deep discount to buying cds.

Probably the best part of the eMusic service is its lack of micromanagement. iTunes offers more selection. But, eMusic lets you download mp3s, which you can do with as you please. There's no need to use their software, though they offer a download manager if you like.

I just downloaded Teddy Edwards' Nothin' But the Truth. It's a good album. If you like solid sax jazz. I recommend it.  I also managed to download the entire box set of John Coltrane - The European Tour.  Since it cost me, well nothing, it's a pretty good deal.  Even at the retail payment plan, I'd only spend about $15 downloading this tremendous collection.  If you like music outside the Hillary Duff, Britany Spears, pop radio box,  then this may be a great deal for some of your music purchases.
