Being more self-reliant

Step 1: recognize what you can't do alone.
Step 2: realize what you can.
Step 3: work to perfect the skills needed to do what you can so you don't have to wait or hope for translation.

It can be very difficult to explain to people what you want. Often, it's not necessary. You can just do it yourself. In tech, especially in communications, we're increasingly freed by tools developed to help us do that better than ever. You don't have to be a graphic artist or professional web developer to get your message across. There is, however, a learning curve to any avenue of communications. Even the phone took a process: learn the keys, learn the number sequence, learn to store and lookup phone numbers. This set of actions will improve any part of your life whether it's health, accounting or marketing.

My goal has always been to empower people to provide for themselves. The tools I've developed in my companies have been about freeing people to do what they want, when they want. This is the single biggest hope I have for people, and the single biggest failure I see. Business owners will hand over control when they don't need to because their modern ADD method of dealing with the world doesn't allow them to sit down and learn the techniques of controlling their own message.

It takes hours to change your future. Developing a skill that makes you independent is always a worthy investment.
