The first week is definitely the worst. Once it gets easy (and I've been there) the hardest part is keeping it a preference or ritual instead of a chore. People drop chores, but they cling to personal preferences and rituals.
For example, if my wife were deathly allergic to mayo it'd be OK. She hates the stuff and avoids it like plague. If she had that attitude toward refined sugars and other processed foods, she'd drop twenty pounds in a matter of months without counting the first calorie.
Truth is, limited portions is important. But, unlike many tend to say, it is what you eat and how much you eat. Most of our diet is caustic, not nutritious. Dropping the empty carbs and heavily modified foods from our diet empowers the body to tell you better when its full and fulfilled.
