Virtualization, BSD, Unix, Windows and SOHO solution Plan B
My typical solution for running Windows is to avoid it like the plague it is on my wallet. I do have a plan B. Plan B for me is to run an OS I can somewhat control and run a virtual machine on top of it for Windows applications. I've been without a goto plan lately, hacking solutions as I go. Primarily I'm a high value production server guy.
Selling via social media: an example
I want to show you someone that is on track to succeed in social media marketing.
Doing so is simple:
Earthlink won't repair name server change, broken email and domain services
The situation is messy, like it is with many old domains. The client registered a domain years ago through his internet connection provider. At the time, that was Earthlink. They registered the domain with Network Solutions as a Network Solutions reseller.
My growing do list
I have a growing spreadsheet called do.ods. It is an open document spreadsheet, like an Excel spreadsheet, that lists all the little projects I'd like to complete. Unsurprisingly, I stopped looking at it months ago. And, unsurprisingly it's mostly unfinished tasks.
Here are a few things I'd like to do in the next twelve months, if I am blessed with another year of able-bodied life.
An accounting
Accounting for your actions, assets or situation is a principal as well as a good practice. This is a concept taught in the Bible, business school and practically any formal education that enjoys successful students. Without an accounting, how do you know where you stand on any given day?
More Windows fixes, Jan 2010
A visitor asked:
Do you have an updated info on these XP running on Services or the STARTUP TAB?
FYI, you get to the MSCONFIG interface by clicking on Start, going to the command screen and typing MSCONFIG. Then you hit enter and start up the MSCONFIG interface.
Deep discounted hi-val services!
This week only, save a third on any service!
What's the caveat, what's the limit? None! Just call me up this week and schedule the work. All bills have to be paid this week to qualify, but even if you buy work that won't be completed this week, you can buy it now.
So, what can I do?
Why the double opt-in
Had a great conversation with a new client (friend of a friend) about how to build his online database and start marketing to prospects. I discussed the double opt-in which always raises a few questions with new people. Why not just send everyone an email and give them an "opt out" link? If they don't want it, they'll opt out, right?.
Facebook marketing etiquette
Successful selling is quite different than adhering to etiquette. They often overlap, but there's different goals and therefor different processes.
