Vioxx May Return

Addressing the FDA drug safety panel Thursday, Merck research chief Peter Kim said that "if the advisory committee and the FDA conclude that the benefits of this class outweigh the risks in some patient populations, then we would have to consider the implications of these new data given the unique benefits Vioxx offers." - Marketwatch

Healthcare and Insurance in America

Many politicians have talked about deducations for health insurance coverage, expansion of Medical Savings Accounts, even specific tax deductable contributions to healthcare plans. A thousand dollar deduction won't solve financial problems caused by insurance companies that don't pay medical costs the insured thinks are covered. It won't rectify many people's continued problem, which is a complete lack of faith that their health expenses will ever be faithfully paid by an insurer without fighting. There's no way that deduction will make health insurance affordable to people who can't pay the exorbitant and skyrocketing price of quality private insurance.  Truthfully, nobody has offered a plan that completely adresses either the insurance side or the skyrocketing cost side.
