44 Per Cent Fragmentation After Fresh Install and Updates

After basically a fresh installation of Windows and my applications and all the updates, my system has severe fragmentation. It's only been 3 days since I installed my OS.

VMWare to the Rescue: Linux on Windows Laptop

Debian Linux, installed in minutes (like a few) over the network, from their "business card ISO CD, on my Windows laptop running VMWare Workstation 5.X.

I use all sorts of Linux tools and have become rather limited by the Windows toolset for development, so this was a serious productivity boost!

Most impressive was that it gave me zero errors, installed clean, and works like a champ - fast. I love this stuff.

FreeBSD, installed in minutes (like a few) over the network, clean and fast on a Windows box running VMWare Workstation 5.X. Man this stuff is a lifesaver. Now I can have the plug and play functionality of Windows on a laptop (and all the nuances of internet and wireless issues), and still use my FreeBSD tools with what almost seems to be an almost invisible virtual machine layer. It's screaming fast!
